An increasing amount of food needs to be produced in the future to feed the growing world population. However, current food production has a major impact on the environment. It causes 30 % of all green-house gas emissions and drives deforestation and loss of biodiversity. Our diets are becoming higher in calories and in animal-based food. 30 % of produced food is also wasted, enough to feed 200 million people! Switching to a sustainable food production is important to provide enough food for future generations without impacting the environment. But how to increase the sustainability of our diets?
