Keeping your bodyweight in a healthy range is beneficial for your health. Being in ‘energy balance’ means that over time you balance the calories you consume with those that you burn by being active. On the one hand you can reduce calories, for example, by not eating so many energy-dense snacks that provide few nutrients or by limiting liquid calories that don’t give you a feeling of fullness.
On the other hand, you can try to introduce more physical activity into your life. This doesn’t mean you suddenly need to run five times a week. A daily 20-minute walk already brings great health benefits. Remember to set achievable goals for long-term success.
