Does biotechnology lead to different end products?
Not necessarily. Soya oil obtained from herbicide-resistant soya beans is identical to the oil obtained from traditional beans. Soya meal from herbicide-resistant beans will contain small amounts of another protein, but it will not affect the nutritional value nor the safety of the product. On the other hand, rape seed modified to produce an oil with a higher content of polyunsaturated fatty acids will logically result in an oil with a different composition.
