Is exercise futile for weight control?

Despite the common view that an exercise-induced energy deficit will drive up hunger and energy intake, evidence shows, this not to be the case, and that there is a role for exercise in weight loss and weight control(4). So, why does physical activity often produce disappointing effects? Probably because of inappropriate food choices, a desire for self-reward after exercise, and a poor understanding of therelative rates at which energy can be expended by exercise, or taken in, by eating. Therefore, diet and exercise (active lifestyle) should be considered jointly when managing your weight. Exercise can also improve mood independent of age, gender and mode of exercise. It is now thought that psychological factors, such as perceived fitness, have a strong influence on exercise-induced mood changes. Thus, exercise is a behaviour that should be used to control body weight and improve mood. DALŠÍ OTÁZKY
