Can you recommend using diet pills to avoid gaining weight during holidays?

Taking diet or slimming pills to loose weight or for avoiding weight gain is generally not recommended. There are many different types and they allegedly work in different ways (e.g. some are supposed to suppress appetite others claim to change metabolism or block the take-up of fat from food by the body, etc). The reality is that many diet pills have now been taken off the market because of potential dangerous side effects and complications or because the simply did not work.

Even for a short time like a holiday it is not a good choice to use diet pills. The best and by far the healthiest way to control your weight is through healthy eating and exercise.

During holiday here are some simple tips to help you without loosing the enjoyment:

  • drink a glass of water before eating and drink at least 1.5 litres of fluid daily
  • eat regularly and prefer small portions
  • enjoy plenty of fresh salads, vegetables and fruits
  • go as often as possible for a little walk
  • use a bike instead of the car or bus
  • use the stairs and not the lift
