Today, numerous science- and experience-based guidelines are in place for assessing biosafety issues. These include guidelines from the World Health Organization (WHO), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the OECD group of national experts, the UNIDO, the World Bank/International Service for National Agricultural Research, and the European Novel Foods Regulation.
