Is the feed additive calcium iodate regulated in the EU?

Calcium iodate is a trace feed additive and its use in animal nutrition is regulated by Council Directive 70/524/EEC.It belongs to a list of authorised additives in feedingstuffs for an unlimited period. Feed materials may only be put on the market if they are "sound, genuine and of merchantable quality". They must not represent any danger to human or animal health or to the environment.
