I have a tomato allergy. Is it only against fresh tomatoes or also cooked tomato sauce?

Germany

An allergen which is a protein in the offending food sets of a chain of reactions in the immune system including the release of antibodies. These antibodies trigger the release of body chemicals, such as histamine, which give rise to various symptoms such as itchy skin, a runny nose, coughing or wheezing. It would be wise to find out exactly the component of tomatoe you are allergic too and exclude cross-reactions with other allergies you may have. Our best advise is that you consult your doctor for a thorough diagnosis to identify the substance in tomatoes you are allergic too. Then a dietician will help you adapt your diet for proper treatment.
