Is there a fast help for an allergy to peanuts as there is for hay fever? If I have already eaten some, what can I do?

Germany

An allergy is an overreaction by your immune system to substances that are ordinarily harmless to most people. There are certain pharmaceuticals such as anti-histamines, decongestants and corticosteroids to suppress your immune system and help prevent immune responses. Alternatively, you can go for immunotherapy as a long-term cure. Immunotherapy involves injecting allergens into the body to create a tolerance for them. The best long-term way to manage allergies is avoidance. Compared with many other allergies, e.g. pollen, it is relatively easier to avoid food such as peanuts.
After accidental consumption of peanuts, we recommend as a first aid step to induce vomiting to get rid of the allergenic substance and to turn to the nearest doctor or hospital as soon as possible for further advice.
