My hair is thinning. I saw a nutritionist who said this was due to an imbalance between acid and alkaline foods in my diet. (I eat too much meat and fast food and not enough green vegetables). Is it possible there is a link?

Your genetic make-up is the main determinant of how much your hair will thin and at what age. BUT a poor diet lacking in essential micronutrients such as zinc and biotin can have an impact on the hair, and improving your diet will be good for your general health too. The best way to achieve a healthy balanced diet is to eat plenty of staple foods like bread, rice, pasta and potatoes, at least five portions of fruits and vegetables per day and have moderate amounts of meat and dairy products. It is also a good idea to go easy on fatty and sugary foods.

You should also ask a nutritionist to give you a more serious evaluation - diagnosis of your actual diet, allowing reliable suggestions for diet improvement.
