Cardiovascular disease (CVD’s) is a group of disorders related to the heart and blood vessels. Atherosclerosis causing the narrowing of the blood vessels, thrombosis causing a clot to form, and cholesterol stimulating the production of fat all play major roles in the occurrence of any CVD disease related disorders. But what can be done to avoid such diseases? Simple but effective changes to one’s diet and lifestyle is the answer.

Recent media headlines claim that low-fat diets could increase your risk of early death by almost one quarter.  However, the coverage is based on a study that mainly looked at people in lower- and middle- income countries outside Europe, so it may not be relevant for the general European population.
