The Global Initiative on Food Loss and Waste Reduction
Last Updated : 26 April 2017
Every day, large quantities of food that could have once been consumed (or have other use) are being wasted. In Europe, an estimated 88 million tonnes of food are discarded every year.
The magnitude and complexity of the problem of food losses and waste requires collaboration of actors and organisations involved, as no organisation acting alone can achieve meaningful results.
In recognition, EUFIC has joined FAO's SAVE FOOD – The Global Initiative on Food Loss and Waste Reduction – which is based on the concept of PARTNERSHIP and COLLABORATION.
EUFIC will increase awareness, and provide accessible, appealing and actionable information to help reduce food waste.
