What's in your food?
We like knowing what’s in our food. When cooking from scratch, we are aware of the components we mixed or added, take salt for example.
In pre-packaged food, any substance added that remains in the finished product is, according to EFSA, considered an ingredient. Ingredients include nutrient sources, but also additives, sweeteners, enzymes, flavourings, processing aids, which in Europe all must be labelled on pre-packaged foods according to strict EU law.
