Microbiomes for the Future of Food Systems
About the event
The event “Harnessing Microbiomes for a Sustainable Food System: From Farm to Fork and Beyond” brings together key actors from across the agri-food system to explore the transformative potential of microbiomes in achieving sustainable, resilient, and safe food systems. Organised by the Microbiomes4SustainableFood Cluster, the event will showcase the latest results and insights from Horizon Europe-funded projects working at the intersection of microbiome science, agriculture, food production, and health. Covering the full “farm to fork” continuum, the programme highlights how microbiome-based approaches can support sustainable agriculture, innovative food processing, improved food safety, and enhanced nutrition.
Beyond presenting scientific advances, the event aims to foster dialogue between researchers, policymakers, industry, farmers, and other stakeholders. Participants will engage in discussions on key challenges and opportunities, including regulatory frameworks, data and knowledge gaps, and pathways to market uptake. By facilitating exchange and collaboration, the stakeholder day seeks to accelerate the translation of microbiome research into real-world solutions and to contribute to European policy priorities such as the Green Deal and the Farm to Fork Strategy.
